Sedation Dentistry Concious sedation is a wonderful way to have your dentistry done. Once referred to as sleep dentistry, this is the preferred choice of both the highly fearful type patient, as well as anyone who just wants to go way past 'just relaxing'. Different from general anesthesia, which is done with medications being injected directly into your system, conscious sedation is done with oral medication. Each patient's treatment is individually calculated so the dose and type of medication is given to achieve the level of sedation predetermined by you and the doctor. A considerable amount of Advanced Continuing Education is required to perform conscious sedation well. The doctors in our practice continually stay up on the latest medications and techniques. Complete safety is maintained through comfortable monitoring equipment during your conscious sedation appointment. Usually, a lot of dentistry can be performed at one time, as our patients "sleep" while the dental care is rendered. From an entire Full Mouth Rehabilitation, to smile design work, to gum care and root canals, dozens and dozens of our patients have chosen conscious sedation as their way to get dentistry performed on them.
